Missionary · Freedom House International

I grew up in Virginia knowing about Jesus, going to church, hearing the gospel, and checking the boxes, but I never truly knew Him. After years of chasing success and eventually hitting a wall that brought me to surrender, my life changed drastically. A month in Zambia on the mission field in 2024, a second trip in 2025, and a year in FHI's discipleship school showed me what it actually meant to walk with God, not just know about Him. I am here because He met me in my emptiness, and what He gave me in return is something I cannot keep to myself.

The Problem

Christianity in America is, as many have said, a mile wide and an inch deep. The church has never been more resourced, but yet the Great Commission has never felt further from the focus of our congregations. We have more churches and more resources than any generation in history, and yet only 28% of American Christians are both being discipled and discipling others (Barna Group). Less than 50% of Protestant pastors have an intentional discipleship plan for their congregation (Lifeway Research, 2025). And when it comes to global missions, American Christians direct just 0.5% of their giving toward people who have never heard the gospel (The Traveling Team).

The Call and Our Response

Jesus could not have been clearer. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19). "This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations" (Matthew 24:14). In Romans 1, Paul writes of his longing to visit the church in Rome, not just to preach the gospel, but to be mutually encouraged, to impart and receive. He traveled to these churches to teach and preach, but also to walk alongside them and build up the local body. That is still the model.

Freedom House International exists as a direct response to that call. Through partnerships with local churches and ministries in Africa, South America, and the Middle East, FHI comes alongside what God is already doing. Short-term mission teams join the work locals are leading, doing evangelism and ministry in the community but ensuring the fruit links back to those local churches. Something also happens to the people on these teams. Worship, prayer, evangelism, and small group discipleship are a part of every day life with FHI. People always go home changed. Some return to the states. Some are sent as long-term missionaries. Most go back to their communities hungry to know Jesus and make disciples.

FHI also runs a stateside discipleship school; nine months of teaching, worship, community, and outreach, followed by three months overseas on mission. It is one of the most concrete answers we have found to the discipleship deficit in the American church.

My Role

My role at Freedom House International sits at the intersection of data systems and global mission. On the technical side, I build and manage the infrastructure that keeps FHI operating with clarity and efficiency, freeing our teams to focus on people rather than spreadsheets. On the mission side, I work directly with global ministry partners in the Middle East, lead and support short-term mission teams, and help establish new ministry hubs in the 10/40 window. What my day-to-day looks like:

Data & Systems
  • Building a unified data system across FHI's platforms so leadership always has a clear picture of applications, fundraising, and finances
  • Automating reporting and data processes so the team spends less time on paperwork and spreadsheets and more time on people
  • Maintaining financial tracking and donor reporting to keep FHI operating with accountability and transparency
Global Missions
  • Partnering with Global Initiatives team to identify and establish new ministry hubs in the Middle East through vision trips and on-the-ground relationship building
  • Visiting and strengthening FHI's existing Middle Eastern ministry partners at least once a year
  • Leading FHI mission teams in the field; from logistics and planning to daily discipleship, worship, and ministry
